Having spent some of my life in the world of journalism as an interviewer and host and moving at one point to the other side of the looking glass as a communications Director for Greens, I have seen and heard so many who cherry pick the truths that bolster the credibility of the ideologies they present to us as the best way forward. At this point I have chosen to do what I can to see that the truth is not best seen as black and white, but grey. That I am absolutely right and you are absolutely wrong has us in a downward spiral the consequences of which are dark and close at hand. Through my work as a Spiritual Director, or companion as it were, I embrace the non-duality that does not come easily to our western minds. Perhaps an example will help: Within love is hate, within hate is love. In any profound attempt at relationship the stakes are high. If love,as offered, is rebuffed then the wounded heart may turn to hate , harden itself against the pain of rejection and in a flash both love and hate find a unity that speaks to what the heart truly yearns for. I believe that so much of what ails us is not solvable by the back and forth of the so called rational arguments that float before our internet saturated eyes. I ascribe to the notion that our cure lies in the spiritual. Note I am not saying religious. For me spirituality is a relationship issue. My relationship to myself, the other and the earth. Religion is a tribal attempt at creating a fitness program for the soul and one more important thing, community. In its highest form their is unity. We are stardust beings, part of a living ecosystem. Everything we touch, touches us. Don;t look up, heavens not there. It's all around us.For a conversation ralphbenmergui.ca Alephcanada.ca
