The Four Worlds within us

You may have heard of Kabbalah. Maybe it was years ago, when stars like Madonna did a, shall we say, shallow dive in to this mystical form of Jewish spirituality. All religions have a mystical branch; Islam has Sufi's, Catholics have Meister Eckhart and Hindu's have Vedanta. These are destinations in the spiritual world that have mystery as a comfort zone.Rabbi David Cooper Z'l was a mystic and wrote , what I think is an excellent book called "God is a Verb". It has been a blessing for me. I have been able to move away from the man on a throne with a white beard and a naughty and nice list that was on offer in my Hebrew school, Santa God, as it were. Instead I sense a constant flow of creative energy afoot in the 2 trillion galaxies in our known universe. The same energy that creates suns, planets, moons, and you. I bend my knee towards that. Something I work with in spiritual counselling with my clients is the four worlds of Kabbalah. From the body to the yearnings of the heart to the formations of our minds and ultimately to our spirit and spiritual practices. We all have these worlds within us. Often spending much more time in one or the other of them. Maybe it's all in our heads, or we feel too much. Perhaps the victories and defeats in our physical selves consume us, or, we float away on the magic carpet of the stars. The key is to re-balance and cultivate the integration of all 4 worlds into our experience of this life. As for the G word. Why not make it optional if Santa God is all we have to go on.
